Vascular Management Associates

Founded by a vascular surgeon for vascular interventionalists, Vascular Management Associates (VMA) has been a pioneer in establishing outpatient, minimally-invasive, endovascular centers. Since its inception in 2006, VMA has helped physicians across the United  States develop and operate physician-owned endovascular centers, sometimes referred to as Office-Based Labs (OBLs).  We provide consulting services to help physicians set up and operate their centers, to full management of the centers.  We are very proud of the financial success and quality of care that we have helped our clients achieve.

Our team encompasses the whole spectrum of competency and experience needed to run a competitive, cutting edge, healthcare business today.  Led by a vascular surgeon, Sam Ahn, MD, FACS, formerly Professor of Surgery and Director of Endovascular Surgery at UCLA, our team of healthcare, technical, and business professionals wants to help you build and manage your own outpatient endovascular center.

Sam Ahn, MD, FACS, MBA
Founder and CEO

Dr. Ahn is a pioneer in endovascular surgery and the delivery of services in an office based angio suite and outpatient setting.  He was a Professor of Surgery and Director of the Endovascular Surgery Program at UCLA Medical School. He is currently Professor of Surgery at TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine. Combining his skills as a surgeon and business knowledge, he founded VMA to assist other physicians in building successful practices while leveraging innovation and research to improve outcomes and patient care. Along with maintaing an active practice, Dr. Ahn also drives the strategy and vision for VMA and the medical practices managed by the company.

Eunji Shin
Director of Financial Affairs

Eunji manages the  financial affairs for VMA and our managed practices.  Working closely with the operational and leadership teams, she integrates data from the clinical and revenue cycle management functions in the practices to produce all reporting of financial information and business metrics.

Brent Larlee
Chief Operating Officer

Brent is an accomplished builder of successful businesses. He brings a range of skills from sales and marketing to finance to operational excellence and team building.  Brent works closely with the practice managers to streamline and systematize business workflows that support the physicians and clinical teams to deliver the best patient care and experience possible.  he has led pure start up businesses to commercialize new ideas, and also led established businesses addressing market changes while developing and implementing revised strategic plans.

Walter Kim
Vice President
Procurement & Operations Manager

Walter wears multiple hats for VMA.  He oversees procurement services on a national basis working with equipment and device suppliers to set up and manage national contracts.  On a day-to-day basis, Walter is also the practice manager for VMA's largest and longest standing client based in Los Angeles and another new practice in southern California.  In that role, he has operational oversight of the practice including work flow, staffing, human resources, and insuring the physicians are fully supported.

Magean Whaley, RN, CIRCC
Director of Clinical Services

Magean is a trained nurse and was the nurse manager at one of VMA's managed practices where she led the clinical team.  She has expanded on that clinical knowledge to add skills as a certified vascular coder and an expert on the processes and best practices for our clients to achieve and maintain accreditation.  Magean can be found working on a daily basis with the clinical and compliance teams in our client practices to improve services and to deliver better patient care.
